The Merc keeps it local and chooses Philsquare to develop new website

Earlier this year, Philsquare was involved with the redevelopment of The Community Mercantile’s new website. Philsquare teamed up with a local user experience group who focused on design elements that worked within The Merc’s existing branding. The team spent considerable time organizing content since content architecture was key in making sure The Merc’s priorities were being communicated through the web; these include their focus on local food, the opportunity to become owners and their impact on the local economy and community.

An overview of our web upgrade

Almost a year ago, we revealed the most exciting Philsquare website design yet. We had streamlined content and we focused on what we did and how we did it (our process and portfolio pages). A year later, we still totally love the website (if you know Phil, you know this is surprising). It just needed some freshening up: like a new haircut for spring.

We’re proud to introduce the updated and even better Philsquare.com website (version 4.2...or so.)

Our new website

The Philsquare team is never satisfied. We want every website we complete to be more efficient, more beautiful and better developed than the last. And that includes our own website.

Our website serves two main purposes: One, to demonstrate our skills as a web design and development firm (would you really hire a company to do your website if its own website looks anything short of amazing?); and two, to convince potential customers to hire our team. Our website must show the quality of work (seen in our portfolio) and the care and passion we put into every project.

Happy Birthday Philsquare!

Fun news loyal blog readers! On Saturday, November 5, the team at Philsquare will be celebrating the company’s first birthday! We’ve been fortunate in the past year to work with some really great local community services and businesses: Van Go Mobile Arts, Lawrence Public Library, Lawrence GiveBack, and several departments and groups at The University of Kansas. We’re passionate about solid development and beautiful websites that fit our customers’ needs. To celebrate our birthday we are offering a couple of our services FREE.

At 1pm and 3:30pm we will be offering the “WordPress Basics” workshop FOR FREE! This has been our most popular workshop in the past year, and we want to share it with more people in Lawrence. In this two-hour workshop, learn about the advantages of using WordPress (.com versus .org); and learn how to maintain your WordPress site. Also, for every person who attends the workshop, Philsquare will donate $5 to Van Go Mobile Arts. Read more for details.
