The Cider Gallery & Events website features beautiful artwork, the centerpiece to this refurbished building's gallery and event space. Modern fonts and easy content management helps this site stay relevent for those looking for a space to play (in the amazing event space) or work (in great office space).

The Philsquare team is never satisfied. We want every website we complete to be more efficient, more beautiful and better developed than the last. And that includes our own website. 

Our website serves two main purposes: One, to demonstrate our skills as a web design and development firm (would you really hire a company to do your website if its own website looks anything short of amazing?); and two, to convince potential customers to hire our team. Our website must show the quality of work (seen in our portfolio) and the care and passion we put into every project.

Happy Birthday to Us!

Today, we are very excited and proud to celebrate Philsquare’s 2nd Birthday! Two years ago, Creative Director Phil Martinez launched philsquare.com. This was the first step in transforming his freelance work into a web development company that grows stronger and more talented every day. 

This writeup started as a short description for our portfolio page but because of the vast number of really cool features on The Granada’s site I wanted to brag about, I just couldn’t stop writing.  So I decided to turn it into a blog post. The Philsquare team is incredibly proud of this site and is very excited to have had the chance to work with such an iconic Lawrence venue. Coming soon: Look for a screencast showing some of the behind the scenes of The Granada’s new website and a bit more explanation on the development of some of the site’s features.

Bailey is a semi-regular Social Media Club of Lawrence attendee. She will also aspire to semi-regularly blog about it.  If you are interested in talking about social media tools, strategies, techniques or trends (mostly in regards to business) you are welcome to attend. The Lawrence Public Library came to Philsquare because they needed a new online presence that emphasized its various blogs, age-specific content and social media use. The design was based on the mostly new logo which reflects the organization's role as the community spot.

Now that we've launched our new website, we want to make sure we highlight the logo we had created for us last year. It now has a new color, based on our new branding, but it's the white space that we love the most.

During the logo development, Phil worked with Tom Avery, a great designer in Kansas City. There were a few design elements Phil wanted in the logo that Tom incorporated beautifully.

Josh Davis, with the @free twitter account, wanted a site where he could easily feature free birthday offers. He needed to be able to update the site himself and incorporate the many social media accounts he uses to promote and make @free so successful. 

Our goal was to build a content management site (CMS) that allows site manager to update content with new deals, allow for easy social media sharing and provide an attractive design to appeal to visitors. 

Fun news loyal blog readers! On Saturday, November 5, the team at Philsquare will be celebrating the company’s first birthday! We’ve been fortunate in the past year to work with some really great local community services and businesses: Van Go Mobile Arts, Lawrence Public Library, Lawrence GiveBack, and several departments and groups at The University of Kansas. We’re passionate about solid development and beautiful websites that fit our customers’ needs. To celebrate our birthday we are offering a couple of our services FREE. 

At 1pm and 3:30pm we will be offering the “WordPress Basics” workshop FOR FREE! This has been our most popular workshop in the past year, and we want to share it with more people in Lawrence. In this two-hour workshop, learn about the advantages of using WordPress (.com versus .org); and learn how to maintain your WordPress site. Also, for every person who attends the workshop, Philsquare will donate $5 to Van Go Mobile Arts. Read more for details.
